Hello Mariah

Take a look at the following lessons and posts that will help you out in further understanding IP fragmentation:

> An IPv4 packet header is a 20-byte structure containing source/destination addresses, TTL, protocol type, and routing information

> Hello Burak TCP segmentation occurs at layer 4 of the OSI model. TCP will take the data received from the upper layers and separate it into segments. The [header of each segment](https://networklessons.com/cisco/ccna-routing-switching-icnd1-100-105/tcp-header/) will include information such as source and destination ports, sequence numbers, acknowledgement numbers, [window size](https://networklessons.com/cisco/ccna-routing-switching-icnd1-100-105/tcp-window-size-scaling/), checksum and others that are necessary for the reassembly on the other end. So, when Layer 4 receives the data from the upper layers, it separates it into pieces each with its own header. The size of…

You can do some further [searches in the forum](https://forum.networklessons.com/search) as well where you will find additional information. If you have any more specific questions, let us know!

I hope this has been helpful!
