Hi there,
We are an ISP and are currently moving to a second POP. We have 2 Upstream BGP sessions to the same ASN in 2 different locations. Now, that we have our 2 POPs also in two different locations we need to have a full redundancy to the Upstream. The service must continue if one of the circuits goes down. I have been doing testing with BFD but I will like to ask for your opinion if there’s a better way to accomplish the full redundancy.

Hi Hilton,

BFD will help to quickly detect a failed neighbor but that’s about it. What about convergence time? Does it matter how long it takes to failover from one router to another? Some topics you might like to check:
