I am looking for Cisco Catalyst 9400 Series Switches stack troubleshooting and replacing of faulty switch in stack with new one. thanks
Hello Vishal
The Catalyst 9400 supports only Stackwise virtual. Although we do have a lesson about switch stacking here, this is traditional stacking and is different.
We don’t yet have a lesson on virtual stacking, however, you can suggest adding it in the Lesson Ideas page below:
For now, however, I can direct you to some documentation that helps in this process:
Cisco Catalyst 9400 switches do not use traditional StackWise; they support a two-chassis StackWise Virtual configuration. Troubleshooting therefore focuses on the StackWise Virtual Link, Dual-Active Detection, supervisor status, and configuration consistency between the two chassis. If one chassis is faulty, the replacement chassis must use compatible hardware and software, then be configured and rejoined to the StackWise Virtual pair rather than simply inserted with a physical stacking cable.
I hope this has been helpful!
