Is there a way to determine if a switch is layer two or layer three from the IOS?
Hello David
in general, if an IOS says “LAN Base” in its name, it will have layer 2 functionality only. If it includes IP services, Advanced IP services, Enterprise services, or advanced enterprise services, then it will include layer 3 functionality, each one providing a different level of service.
I hope this has been helpful!

Hi, that’s an awesome answer! Where do you find a feature summary for the different levels of service you mentioned?
Thanks,
Michael
Hello Michael
You can view all of the features of a particular IOS version using the Cisco Feature Navigator. You can browse using specific features, or specific software releases for particular platforms.
