Mpbgp evpn

Hi
Do you have lesson about MPBGP EVPN?

I understood that this is needed for infrastructure network with VXLANS that has a completely different porpouse than traditional MPBGP .

But can you share some example more detailed about this topic?

Thanks

Hello Giovanni

When using VXLAN, there are several options that you can use to allow control plane communication. The control plane communication for VXLAN is necessary in order for VTEPS to map destination MAC addresses to remote VTP IP addresses. This can be done using any of the following:

  • VXLAN with static unicast VXLAN tunnels.
  • VXLAN with multicast underlay.
  • VXLAN with MP-BGP EVPN.
  • VXLAN with LISP.

As you can see, MP-BGP EVPN is indeed an option to support the VXLAN control plane, and it is a popular solution for data centers and private clouds.

There is currently no lesson on this topic, but you can go to the Member Ideas page below to make a suggestion. You may find that others have made similar suggestions and you can add your voice to theirs.

In the meantime, you can find some information at this NetworkLessons note on the topic, which includes additional links to Cisco resources.

I hope this has been helpful!
