I’m building a network with packet tracer. I would like to identify the hardware being used in some example networks and can’t get the show diag or show env ios commands to run. Are they not available on packet tracer?
Suggests on which model or routers to use in building a network on packet tracer?

Unfortunately packet tracer doesn’t have all available commands in its capabilities. It is a simulator, and not an emulator like GNS3 is. An emulator will support all commands because it uses the real IOS files used by production network devices.
As for the models you should use, I suggest you choose the most advanced ones available, so that you can have the most advanced featureset available.
