Yes, vPCs are a feature that is supported by Nexus series devices. However, it is possible to create a similar arrangement when using Cisco IOS devices. Such a feature is called Multichassis Etherchannel. There are various ways to implement this using IOS devices:
- Using VSS you can make two switches act virtually as one, and create an etherchannel with links coming from both physical devices.
- Using StackWise, you can connect two or more physical devices into a single logical switch, and create etherchannels with links that come from multiple physical switches.
- Using Multichassis LACP you can dynamically create etherchannel links coming from multiple physical devices.
