Seeking help on why i'm not getting invite for job interview

Hi Guys,

I know you are probably wondering why i write this post here since it doesn’t fall under the criteria. It’s because it’s critical to me and i needed help as i’m not sure what else i should do. I am a CCNP certified with F5 LTM experience. ITIL Foundation certified. I have been applying for networking job since last year and i have never gotten even just one interview. I would like to know if anyone knows how/what i should do. Any suggestion or advice i get would be so much appreciated.

Thank you
Sam

Hello Samuel

It’s unfortunate to hear that someone with the skillset you have is having difficulty in finding a job. There are many factors that can play a part in this, ones that we don’t know about like in what country you live in, what kind of financial situation exists and what the job market is like. But these are all things that deal with you and your particular location. It may be a good idea to compare your success of the success of others of similar skills in the region where you live. That way you can see if it is just the region itself or that you are in fact doing something you don’t know about that is causing potential employers to avoid you.

As far as from a technical point of view, I have found that the way you present and market yourself (CV, online marketing etc) plays a vital role. Certifications should be stressed and past experience should also be showcased. As far as I’m concerned, in the networking world, these are the two most vital components of your job finding strategy. Maximising their potential is paramount to finding a job.

Once you get one job, a single one, even if it isn’t what you want, take it to gain experience, showcase that experience and then move on to something bigger and better.

I hope this has been helpful for you and I wish for you to be able to go on to bigger and better things!!

Hi Lagapides,

Thank you for replying to my post. Yes i had thought about all this possibilities and have even contacted with people who have experience with reviewing technical resumes. I didn’t know what else i should do or why i wasn’t getting interviewed. I live in California at least for the past five years now. I am currently working as IT specialist. I will revisit my resume as well as find another professional around to take a look at if something i should do better. Once again, i thank you for your insight.
